To get quantity breaks when your order is embroidered, all 4 of the following key conditions must be met. Listed below are the key conditions that must be met, and then additional information about each condition:
ALL 4 CONDITIONS MUST BE MET FOR QUANTITY BREAKS
-
- The same digitizing file must be used for all items
- All items receive the same color threads in the same sequence
- All items can be sewn at the same time
- Items must be similar in nature
The same digitizing file must be used for all items
Digitizing files tell an embroidery machine how to sew your logo and a big part of the quality of your logo comes from the quality of a digitizing file. These files contain information about the size of your logo, the density of thread, thread pull compensation, start/stop sewing actions, thread color changes, and more. If any change to the file is required to do your embroidery order, a new file is generated, those items are separated, and we setup the equipment separately, run the items separately, and therefore have different quantity breaks for each set of items.
All items receive the same color threads in the same sequence
Items being embroidered are separated into groups based on the digitizing files we use. To organize information and reduce the risk of any item being sewn with the wrong colors, Impress Designs treats each color combination as both a unique design ID and a unique digitized file. Because color combinations are a result of not only color, but file sequence, even files that use the same colors but in different ways are unique. An example of this would be blue box with a red circle inside of it. If we change this to a red box with a blue circle in it, the colors would technically be the same, but the sequence would change. In most, but not all cases, we do not need to charge you to generate a new digitized file if there is only a color change, but a new file will be generated. The separation of items into groups and unique setups for each color combination means that quantity breaks are affected when changing sewing the colors or color sequences.
All items can be sewn at the same time
To start an order all items must be received before beginning production, but if by your request, we need to embroider some pieces before all pieces are ready, we must create a back order to move forward. When a back order is created the quantity breaks for each individual order as they are to be embroidered apply regardless of reason for the back orders as long the cause of the back order is not 100% the responsibility of Impress Designs. To learn more about back orders please see our article titled "How are back orders handled?"
Items must be similar in nature
Even items that sew with the same digitized file may not be able to be sewn together. Different items are setup differently and require different work to prepare. Hats for instance require the machine to be changed to a hat format by replacing all of the flat hoop components and frames with rotary hat hoops. The idea that items must be similar in nature may seem somewhat subjective, however as a general rule, items that are sewn with the same setup can be grouped together for quantity breaks. Here is a list of categories that cannot be combined to for quantity breaks (items not listed may need to be evaluated):
- Shirts
- Outerwear
- Bags
- Caps
- Blankets/towels
- pants/shorts
